As
a second homeowner, you have many options available to you
regarding where you shop. Do
you bring
groceries with you or do you make a point to shop locally
at Vons and Stater Brothers? Do you buy your home and garden
supplies
at Lowes and Home Depot or do you shop at Riffenburgh, Butcher’s
Block or Eminger’s Mountain Nursery? Do you treat yourself
to some of our unique shops when you come to the Valley?
These
are key questions that have a huge impact on Big Bear’s
local economy. It is estimated that 45 cents of every dollar
spent on the hill, stays on the hill. Big Bear businesses
and residents can often offer unique knowledge about the
Valley - from building and painting, to xeriscape landscaping.
And as you know, maintaining your second home is usually
quite different than maintaining your primary residence.
The
Big Bear Chamber of Commerce has initiated a shop local
campaign called “Shop Big Bear…it makes ¢ents!” Your
purchases have a strong effect on keeping our community economically
strong and sound, and we appreciate it every time you can
spend time at your second home and shop locally!
