As
we enter the Fall and Winter months in the Big Bear Valley,
we also look
forward to our 15th year of publication. We’re going
to be looking back at some of the stories and features from
years gone by, as well as sharing some new stories we’re
excited to pass along.
Big Bear Magazine is extremely proud of their success throughout
the years, and thanks all our staff, contributors, clients,
suppliers and friends for their continued support. The company
began in 1995, the same year the explosive growth of the internet
brought a wealth of information to homes and businesses - more
than 20 million people became wired to the World Wide Web.
And now, Big Bear Magazine, taking the same path as many publications,
is available exclusively on-line.
What else was happening in 1995, when the magazine began production?
Forrest Gump won Best Picture at the Academy Awards, with Tom
Hanks receiving the Best Actor award for the movie. Jessica
Lange received Best Actress award. The Lion King won in the
Best Original Song category with Can You Feel The Love Tonight.
And, TV fans made Seinfield, E.R. and Home Improvement their
top series. New artist Sheryl Crow took home Record of the
Year with All I Wanna Do.
Our friend and colleague Margaret
Shaffner, owner of Woodstock Real Estate, celebrates 30 years
in business this year. That’s
a remarkable track record for any small business - congratulations
Margaret. Read more about Margaret this issue, and you’ll
see why hard work has made her so successful.
In “A Home for Cats,” by Joan Carlson, you’ll
see how one woman’s dream, is becoming a reality, as
the local performing arts guru Sarge Rachaels continues to
develop her passion for Big Bear Theater.
Take a look at our new Calendar
of Events, provided by Rick Bates, at the Event Resource
Office, by clicking on the upper
left hand corner. Local and 2nd Homeowners may want to scroll
down to the “Master Calendar”, to see exactly what
is happening each and every day in the Valley. These calendars,
assembled by the Chamber of Commerce and the Resort Association,
will provide you, our readers, the most up-to-date information
available for the Valley.
As you know, Oktoberfest is happening now, so come on up and
attend!!.
We’re looking forward
to a wonderful Fall and Winter season in the Big Bear Valley.
Hope you can join us!!
