Welcome to the first totally on-line issue of Spring/Summer Big Bear Magazine.

Still amazing to me where we’ve come over the last couple decades – from print to internet. Never did I think back in 1995, when Big Bear Magazine began, our entire industry would be so very different. But, here we are. .For our loyal readers, we will be keeping the same format we’ve had in our print publication for more than 14 years. Over the years we’ve received many testimonials and comments from our readers, who love the charm and charisma offered by Big Bear Magazine and the Big Bear community. We’re pleased to say, you will continue to see the same, from our new on-line editions.

Summer is always a great time in the Big Bear Valley, and has always been the favorite season of 2nd Homeowners as well as locals. Who wouldn’t love the wonderful weather, Big Bear Lake itself, and all the outstanding activities the community has planned for the next few months? Thank you to Rick Bates, Director of Event Resources in Big Bear, who has supplied us with an up-to-date calendar of events, for the next six months. Print it out, and keep it on the refrigerator. That way, you can always have a good idea what’s planned for the mountains. Do remember however, things can change, so always double check dates and times. We’ll also be posting event updates, homeowner tips, and more on our blog at www.bigbearmagazine.com, so please check regularly as we continue to grow with this new cyberspace magazine.

Take a special look at our feature story from Christie Walker, “Free or almost free… 10 Fun Things to do in the Big Bear Valley during the spring and summer.” Read about the Cougar Crest Trail – one you may not have yet hiked, on the North shore of the lake, in Sandy Steers hiking story.

In this issue, you’ll also get to know some Big Bear People – Roger Nannini, famed artist, and passionate Big Bear residents, Peggy and Jim Otterstrom, in their story “Walking Their Talk.”

And we’ve included a new “Critter Chat” for our dog lovers, who want to be certain their dogs are receiving the very best. Visit MaggiesDogMunchies.com, for organic dog cookies your dog will love!

We are pleased to a introduce a new Big Bear Business to Business segment, featuring uplifting thoughts for local businesses as well as businesses across the country, by Marlene Cain, Staffing and Career Consultant, and Vice chair Membership for the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce – “Opportunity Knocks.” Don’t miss Ms.Cains thoughts for dealing positively in a down economy.

We’re glad you’ve joined us at Big Bear Magazine. Stay in touch – there is always more to come.
