we enter the Fall and Winter months in the Big Bear Valley,
we also look forward to our 15th year of publication. We’re
going to be looking back at some of the stories and features
from years gone by, as well as sharing some new stories we’re
excited to pass along.

Big
Bear Magazine's 15th Anniversary It
was 1992, when Al, Barbara, Chad, Cinnamon, Pepper (the dogs) and Tiger (the
cat) Scharnhorst relocated to the Big Bear Valley. Al had created a successful
remodeling company, Foothill Builders Home Improvement Co. located in Pasadena,
CA, for the decade prior. Barbara had concluded a 5-year career as West Coast
Manager “Marketplace” with House & Garden Magazine. And Chad
had completed a tumultuous First Grade year in the Pasadena school system. |

Home for CATS About
twenty years ago, Karen “Sarge” Rachels,
who had starred on Broadway, worked with the television and
recording
industries, and basically had been involved with theater
and the entertainment world her entire life, made Big Bear
Lake her permanent home. |

The
Moonridge Animal Park is on their winter hour schedule. Weather
permitting, the park will be open daily except on Christmas
Day. If heavy snow or icy conditions exist the park will
be closed. You may call the Moonridge Animal Park (909) 584-1299
or the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo (909) 878-4200 to check
on whether or not the park is open to visitors. |
