Movie Buffs
Big Bear Lake Film Festival needs screeners and readers!

Film Festival

If you love movies, now may be the time to put that love to use with the Big Bear Lake Film Festival. The festival is currently looking for both movie screeners and screenplay readers. If you are a local movie buff, and interested in becoming involved, drop an email to Monica Skerbelis, Artistic and Programming Director, at BigBearFilmFest@aol.com.

This fun and rewarding volunteer position is available to most everyone in Big Bear. Movie screeners will be watching and evaluating films including documentaries, family films, high school student films, animation films, as well as independent feature length films. Independent films from emerging filmmakers and students from around the world are represented in the Big Bear Lake Film Festival.

Volunteers will need the time to watch approximately two hundred films ranging from 2 minute short films to feature length movies and documentaries. Job duties include viewing the movies and filling out a written critique rating the entry. Forms will be provided and explained.

“This is a great chance for local folks to get involved in our rapidly growing film festival and to be a part of taking it to the next level” says Monika Skerbelis, Artistic and Programming Director. This year there will also be a presentation showcasing pets and animals. The submission period for movies ends May 15, 2009, and the screening process continues until July 15.

Readers are also needed to critique screenplay entries. Screenplay readers must be trained in this profession, or have a background in screenplay writing and/or have won a screenwriting award in a major film festival. Those interested in submitting an application for reading may contact Sandy Steers at screenplaydirector@bigbearlakefilmfestival.com

Readers will not only receive program recognition, they will receive an All-access pass to the Film Festival.

The 10th Annual Big Bear Lake International Film Festival and Screenwriting Competition will be held September 18-20, in Big Bear Lake, CA. bigbearlakefilmfestival.com, 909.866.3433.
